Is 1200 DPI Worth It for Printed Photos?
Sometimes — but not for every photograph. For ordinary 4×6 and 5×7 family prints, 600 dpi is often already a strong archival setting. 1200 dpi becomes more useful for very small originals, detailed restoration work, substantial cropping, or prints that contain unusually fine detail.

Important

An 8×10 at 600 dpi is already enormous.
